Location: NEC Birmingham
Date: 21 April 2010
Time: 13:50-14:10
Abstract As part of preparing for the CRC organisations will have to become proficient at forecasting their energy demand on a year ahead basis. This requires the following skills and knowledge:
- An accurate set of procedures for monitoring energy use on a month to month basis
- A good understanding of where the energy is used. This is likely to include heating, lighting, and small power and may include cooling and process energy.
- An understanding of what factors influence each source of demand such as operating hours, number of employees, temperature, wind, processes and amount of sunlight.
- A good prediction of when any planned energy saving measures are likely to be implemented and what their impact is likely to be.
- Knowledge of how to take this information and turn it into a year ahead forecast of maximum, minimum and average demand.
- An understanding of the risks and uncertainties associated with the forecast.
